Where to stay in Koronisia: accommodation, rooms, and the truth about hotels
Koronisia has no hotels. Accommodation is a handful of small, family-run places — rented apartments and rooms in or beside the village — that sell out weeks ahead in July and August. If you want to stay inside the village, on foot from the water and the tavernas, book early.
Before anyone asks us about prices, they ask something more basic: "what is there in Koronisia to stay in?" The answer is short, and because it is short it is worth getting right — what the real options are, who each one suits, and how not to end up without a bed in August.
We run Asterias Homes, 7 apartments inside the village. We say that up front so you know who is writing; everything below about the village holds wherever you end up staying.
Are there hotels in Koronisia?
No. If you search for "hotels in Koronisia", what you will find are rented apartments, studios and rooms — not hotels with a 24-hour desk, a restaurant and a pool. The village is an islet with a few dozen houses; it has neither the size nor the tourism for that, which is exactly why the people who come here come.
If a hotel is non-negotiable — for a conference, a pool, a breakfast buffet — Arta has city hotels 25 km away, and the Preveza coast has beach hotels about an hour by car. From either, Koronisia becomes a day trip for lunch and the sunset.
What accommodation actually exists
Three kinds, all small and almost all family-run.
- Rented apartments
- With a kitchen, their own bathroom and usually a balcony. The most common option, and the only one that works for more than two or three nights: you make breakfast, keep fish from the taverna, and have room for children.
- Rented rooms
- Simple rooms with no kitchen, or just a fridge. Cheaper, right for a weekend eating only at the tavernas.
- Whole houses
- A few, mostly through platforms. Sensible for a large group; for two people they cost more for no reason.
Inside the village, or on the lagoon road?
This is the distinction that matters most. Places inside the village are a few minutes on foot from the square, the water, the tavernas, the mini-market and the church — you park the car and do not touch it again until your day trip. Places along the lagoon road before the village have open views over the wetland, but you need the car for every dinner.
Our view, which is admittedly also our choice: for a few days, inside the village. An evening in Koronisia is a walk from the taverna home under the stars, not a drive with headlights.
What Asterias Homes is
Seven apartments inside the village, each for 2 to 4 guests, with their own kitchen, air conditioning, private bathroom, balcony and free WiFi. Free private parking on our property. The gulf and the tavernas are about a 5-minute walk. Rates start at €60 per night.
You book directly with us, with no platform commission, with check-in 15:00–21:00, check-out by 11:00 and free cancellation up to 48 hours before arrival. Tell us who is coming — a couple, a family with small children, a group of friends — and we will suggest which apartment fits.
When to book
With this few beds in the village, availability is the real issue, not price.
- August
- The fullest month. Weekends and the 15 August holiday are gone by spring; book two to three months ahead.
- July and early September
- Busy, with some slack. A month ahead is usually enough for midweek.
- June, late September, October
- Warm sea, open tavernas, gentler rates, no availability stress. For many people the best time.
- Spring and winter
- Very quiet. Ideal for birdwatching and for peace; ask which tavernas are open.
What "sea view" means here
The Amvrakikos is an enclosed gulf and Koronisia sits inside a lagoon. A "sea view" in Koronisia is a view of calm, shallow water, fishing boats, reed beds and — with luck — flamingos, with a sunset that falls straight onto the water. It is not open sea with waves. We say so in case it disappoints anyone, and because for most people who come, it is exactly what they wanted.

Are there hotels in Koronisia?
No. Accommodation in Koronisia is rented apartments, studios and rooms, all small and mostly family-run. The nearest hotels are in Arta (25 km) and on the Preveza coast (about 1 hour).
How far ahead should I book for August?
Two to three months for weekends and the 15 August holiday. The village has a few dozen beds in total and the best ones go in spring.
Which apartment suits a family with two children?
One of the four-person apartments with a kitchen and balcony. Tell us the children's ages when you book and we will suggest the best fit; the water in front of the village is shallow and calm.
Is it cheaper to book direct?

Do I need a car if I stay inside the village?
To get here, yes — there is no public transport. Once you arrive, everything in the village is on foot. You need the car again only for day trips to Arta, Preveza or the Ionian beaches.
